Application for Auditor

Auditor status is available to Stanford faculty or regular staff members as defined in Administrative Guide Memo 2.2.1: Definitions.

This status applies to lecture (LEC) courses only. No labs, seminars, case study, language, or activity courses may be audited. See Explore Courses to determine the component (i.e., type) of any course.
Courses are not recorded on an academic transcript; no official records are maintained for auditors.
Application should include 2 different approvals: 1) The first from the instructor of the class, and 2) the second from a department administrator from the department that offers the class. If you are unsure which department administrator to speak to, the instructor can direct you to the right person. A PDF of each email approval should be added to the application. Approval from the applicant’s home department is not required, only from the department offering the class.
Auditing status is not available in the Summer term. See the Summer Sessions Office at: https://summer.stanford.edu
For courses in the Stanford Graduate School of Business (GSB), please submit the GSB Audit Request Form.
